Abstract
The contiguity relationships of communities with lagoons and mangroves generate multiple impacts that need to be known and analyzed for the design of care strategies within the framework of the 2030 SDG. Our objective was to analyze the main socio-environmental problems in Pico del Monte-Chautengo lagoon, Guerrero. We used an exploratory mixed concurrent approach. It included a documentary review, an immersion in the study area and perception with the application of surveys (N = 65) and in-depth interviews (N = 65). In addition, we analyzed the mangrove coverage using Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The results showed that the community of Pico del Monte presents a disorderly population growth that has led it to impact the Chautengo lagoon. The socio-environmental problems perceived by the population are overfishing, pollution from urban solid waste and deforestation in the mangrove area. We conclude that the lack of environmental culture, the lack of territorial planning and basic services, the poor application of public policies, and the absence of employment alternatives cause a deterioration in ecosystems and limit the achievement of the 2030 SDG in the community.
