Scope

Sociedad y Ambiente is a scientific journal that seeks to contribute to the understanding of socio-environmental issues related to the impact of human activities on the natural environment, as well as the effects of environmental changes on social and cultural conformation, whether from historical, contemporary or prospective perspectives.

Sociedad y Ambiente publishes articles, essays, scientific notes, interviews and critical reviews of books, as well as historical or current documents related to the topics of interest of the journal. Both articles and trials undergo a double-blind peer review process. We publish texts in both English and Spanish, in pdf and xml format, with a quarterly period and free access without extra costs for editorial services. It is a publication edited and financed by El Colegio de la Frontera Sur, a public research center attached to the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT) of Mexico.

Double-blind peer review process

In order to guarantee the quality of texts published in Sociedad y Ambiente, both articles and essays undergo a double-blind peer review process, as described below:

Once received through the "Submissions" platform, the contributions are reviewed by the magazine's director, who evaluates the relevance of these with the thematic line of Sociedad y Ambiente, as well as the quality and relevance of the contents and their presentation (Grammar correction and adaptation to the format indications). After this first review, all texts are reviewed by the Turnitin Anti-Plagiarism software in order to ensure their originality.

Of a register (constantly updating) of about 240 judges, at least three specialists on the subject and of institutional ascription different from the author are chosen, who evaluate the contributions through a format. At all times the impartiality of the opinion is taken care of making anonymous the authorship for the dictators, as well as the identity of the dictators for the authors. The report takes about a month, and the follow-up of this process is carried out by the director of the magazine or by the associated editors of the same.

Based on the results of the opinion, the journal's editors and editors determine whether the articles will be published: two negative opinions imply the rejection of contributions; Two positive opinions imply their publication.

Likewise, based on the comments of the reviewers, the articles may enter into a process in which, through the intermediary of the journal's editor or associate editors, different versions of the essays and articles are elaborated and evaluated Published.
