Resumen
Este artículo examina los espacios públicos abiertos como entidades urbanas polivalentes que contribuyen a la sustentabilidad y calidad de vida, y discute las barreras que limitan su aprovechamiento social pleno. El objetivo es mostrar cómo las desigualdades en la provisión y calidad de los espacios públicos, en combinación con el entorno del barrio, crean una valoración dicotómica de los mismos como recurso y fuente de riesgo. El estudio usa métodos mixtos para determinar el nivel de desigualdad socio-espacial existente y los factores que limitan el uso de los espacios públicos por mujeres residentes en Hermosillo, Sonora. Se concluye que los hermosillenses no disfrutan de una provisión completa, equitativa y adecuada de espacios públicos, lo que reproduce y amplifica desigualdades estructurales y de género. Este análisis llena un vacío de información y propone la adopción de un enfoque que reconozca la interconectividad y sinergia entre naturaleza, ciudad y bienestar para resolver la dicotomía recurso-riesgo que afecta la producción de espacios públicos urbanos en Hermosillo.
